What is Tub-a-Pair?
If you've ever squished the wrong lid on to your container of left-over pasta, Tub-a-Pair is for you! These fun labels feature the names of famous duos, allowing you to match up containers and lids with ease. Simply affix each colour-coded pairing to a tub and its top, and they will remain entwined together - forever. Amen.
But how does it work in practice?
Say you label your container ‘Juliet’. Rather than enduring the age-old process of lining up and trying all likely fits, you simply select ‘Romeo’ from your pile of lids - and CLICK! (For a lid by any other name would not fit as sweet…)
How many labels are there in one pack?
There are 42 labels in each pack, which means you can name up to 21 containers in honour of 21 famous partnerships who, well, just completely click!
Will these labels survive the stresses of my kitchen?
Absolutely! The high-tack labels are made of vinyl polypropylene, which means they are resistant against water, oil, light chemicals, tearing and dirt. They are also absolutely at ease in the freezer and microwave. But please note that a (very hot) dishwasher isn’t their favourite place: they will survive plenty of cycles, but will age at a more rapid rate.
Can I stick the labels on any surface?
Yes, but plastic is their natural fit. Glass, ceramic and metal are all fine, but these materials heat up when subjected to hot dishwasher cycles, and this might affect the labels’ adhesive properties. You should also refrain from affixing the labels to textured surfaces. If your container has a textured surface, we’d advise you to affix the label on the inside of the container and/or the under-side of the lid. These surfaces are always smooth, and the labels are completely non-toxic and totally safe if placed in proximity to foodstuffs.
What other uses are there for Tub-a-Pair?
You could use the labels to pair any items that have that annoying tendency to part ways. Keys and padlocks, remote controls and gadgets, phones and chargers, flowerpots and growing instructions – all sorts!
Is Tub-a-Pair environmentally friendly?
More than friendly, we like to think that Tub-a-Pair is environmentally pro-active. Food waste is a massive problem for our planet. Currently, UK households chuck out 4.7m tonnes of edible food per year. Any system that encourages the storage and use of excess food is a positive step … and we hope that making it fun will further incentivise this practice. And what better way to encourage the re-use of all those take-away containers that seem to glory in their own unique dimensions!
Meanwhile, in terms of packaging, the insert card is FSC-certified, chlorine-free and recyclable. The clear sleeve is acid- and lignum-free, but not currently recyclable. We are working on a compostable, bio-based alternative - so please watch this space.
Who the heck are all these characters?
If you don’t know that ‘Peter Pan’ and ‘Wendy’ belong together, or that ‘Holmes’ and ‘Dr Watson’ are BFFs, you will soon learn! In the meantime, all the partnerships are colour-coded for easy pairing.
